Make A Human, Ride A Bike
You know how you get tired of doing the same thing over and over, even if you love it? With cycling I’m mostly into dirt riding, but I commute, dabble with road, ‘cross, etc. Another facet of cycling for me is I like to ride with purpose, meaning, I always do better when I’ve got a certain trail or destination in mind. Before I leave the house I have to "package" the event. I have trouble just “going for a ride.” Then you’ve got the different seasons to change things up. That’s the mix. It’s a good mix for me. Keeps me content year round. But good can always be better. Enter having a child.
You’re supposed to wait about one year or so to trailer a baby. By that time they’re physically ready for the experience and if you’re lucky, they’ll tolerate a helmet. I was SO looking forward to this day. As it happened, the clouds and rain retreated (from months of solid rain) to give us a glorious day. Since Oskar was born we’ve strolled with him almost every day in the Chariot, so he’s use to that gig and he’s way into it. I had no idea how cool it would be to ride with my son. I still need a coffee shop or something as a destination, but I’m stoked to add this to the mix and I know Oskar is too. It’s a new challenge and one that is full of purpose. Here’s a pic from the other weekend – his first ride ever on his first birthday.
